Weir Hall Road

1920s, ex-London County Council, brick semi-detached house. All electric.
Low energy light bulbs. EPC B (from F on purchase in 2014)

“The house was purchased at the end of 2014. It required a lot of work to make
it comfortable and warm, so that was the opportunity to incorporate environmental
improvements to reduce its carbon footprint.  It took a year to find an architect, agree
the plans and get building consent.  Through Muswell Hill Sustainability Group I
knew about Ecodomus, a local company that specialised in environmental retrofit of
buildings.
Having spent two very cold winters in the house, in March 2016 the builders moved
in and I moved out!  I moved back in September 2016.  The house has been
transformed, and as a bonus it generates as much energy as it uses and so is
designated carbon neutral.” Host, Pamela Harling
